Antibacterial vs. Antiseptic vs. Plain Old Soap (2)

The FDA actually gave them a chance!

In 2016, before taking action, they asked the antibacterial soap manufacturers to provide data from clinical studies demonstrating that their products were better than non-antibacterial washes in preventing human illness or reducing infection.

And you know what happened?

The FDA reported that either no additional data were submitted or the data and information provided were not sufficient for the agency to find that the ingredients at issue were generally recognized as safe and effective.

The FDA itself maintains that washing with plain soap and running water “is one of the most important steps” you can take to avoid getting sick and to prevent spreading germs to others

If - you know - "By the Sea Soap Shoppe" soap :)  - and water - aren’t available, your next best bet is an alcohol-based sanitizer containing at least 60 percent alcohol.

Anti-bacterial Soap vs. Antiseptic cleanser vs. Plain Old Soap (1)

I missed this.

The FDA banned antibacterial handwash (U.S.A.) in 2016.

Canada didn't. Health Canada said, "We'll watch and see if we need to take action".

I did a quick search and yes, you can still get antibacterial soap in Canada.

In case you're wondering, it won't help protect you from Covid 19. That's a virus, and antibacterial - anything - won't help against viruses.

"The best defence is a good offense" - heard that one before? A good offense is Soap. Plain Old Soap. Any kind of soap will do!

But if you want one that "Feels Good, Smells Good And It's Healthy Too!" you've got it! By the Sea Soap Shoppe soaps do all that and they kill nasty viruses too! (Just give the soap time - 20 seconds!)
