Soap
Many of you want to know what our soap is made from.
Most of the soap starts with a base of Coconut, Olive and Palm oils. There are a few different oils used sometimes; such as Sunflower oil or Avocado oil. Our Handsome Man soap also has sweet almond oil in it. (I mention this because a few people do have an allergy to almonds).
In addition, depending on the soap, there may be Shea butter, Cocoa butter, castor oil etc. Our Turmeric soap includes chamomile infused olive oil.
All our ingredients are listed. All the soap is vegan with the exception of the two goat soaps (Natural Goat, unscented, and Great Goat soap.) Goat milk has been used in those instead of distilled water. For those who don't mind goat milk, there are great benefits for your skin; lots of Vitamin A, other vitamins and minerals, including selenium. and it's very moisturizing.
Prince Edward Island is known for its potatoes; every collection of anything needs a potato version! In P.E.I, you can find potato bread, potato fudge, why not potato soap?
To make the potato soap, we boil potatoes in water, and we use that potato water - (you know the potato water that you're supposed to save for baking bread, or using in your sauces and gravies so you don't lose the nutrients from the potatoes? - we use that potato water in the soap instead of distilled water that we usually use. You get the nutrients for your skin; it's very good for your skin, and it really does make a lovely, smooth feeling soap.
Many of the soaps have essential oil in them; some are scented with fragrance oils. (We haven't managed to find, for example, an "orange creamsicle" essential oil lol).
It is important to let all natural soaps stay out of water between use; if you leave it in the shower where the water runs over it continuously, or if it is left in a soap dish with water, it will dissolve more quickly. This is true of all natural soaps, not just ours.
But if you let it dry out and keep on a soap dish that keeps it out of the water, this soap is very long-lasting. People are always surprised how long it lasts.
